Remote Game Data & Analytics Jobs

Open remote data analyst, data engineer and game analytics roles at studios hiring across regions. Every listing is verified against the studio’s own careers page.

Data is arguably the most remote-friendly discipline in games. The warehouse is in the cloud, the work reviews cleanly through a pull request, and nothing about it requires a devkit or a capture stage. It is also one of the few areas where experience from outside games transfers almost intact.

What game data roles actually involve

Most of the work is live-service: retention curves, funnel drop-off, monetisation, A/B tests on economy changes, and telling a product team that the feature they love is not working. The hard part is rarely the SQL. It is knowing which question is worth answering and being able to say no to a dashboard request.

Typical stacks lean on SQL as the constant, with Python for analysis, a warehouse such as BigQuery, Snowflake or Redshift, and an event pipeline. Studios running free-to-play or live-ops titles carry the deepest data teams, which is why so many of these roles sit at mobile-first companies.

Analyst, data engineer or data scientist?

Analysts answer product questions and own reporting. Data engineers own the pipelines and the event schema, and are usually the hardest of the three to hire. Data scientists build models — churn prediction, matchmaking, recommendation — and are concentrated at larger studios with enough scale to justify them.

If you are coming from general tech analytics, the transferable core is larger than you expect. What you need to add is games domain knowledge: what a D1 retention number means, why ARPDAU moves on a content drop, and how an economy actually works.

What game data roles pay

There is an honest gap here worth naming: no game-industry-specific salary benchmark exists for data roles at any credible tier. The GDC survey folds them into business and management, which averaged $134,000 in the US. Rather than borrowing a generic tech-analyst figure and presenting it as a games number, our salary calculator declines to estimate this discipline and says so.

Anecdotally these roles price close to general tech analytics in the same market, which tends to mean they compare well against other game disciplines.

Why this is a good remote bet

Data work is measurable, asynchronous and cloud-native — three properties that make a studio comfortable hiring someone it will never sit next to. If you are weighing which discipline to move toward for remote work specifically, data is one of the strongest options available.
